Legal professionals are besieged by half truths and outright lies every day. How many times has a client, a witness, or even a colleague tried to hide the truth from you? Deceits can be costly, not just in terms of finances but in terms of outcomes and lives. Learning how to better analyze human behavior and identify deception can help inoculate you against damaging manipulation. 

Our instructors, Intelligence and Special Operations professionals, guide the class through an exploration of deception and deception detection.  You will leave this course with an enhanced understanding of the nature of deception, the mythology of popular but unproven techniques (and how to avoid them), and most importantly, a discrete set of tools, that when properly applied, will improve your ability to identify deceptive attempts.

Framed around the legal applications of this skillset, including Mergers and Acquisitions, interviews, disclosure, and corporate investigations, the class contains several practical exercises to facilitate the learning process. The instruction covers verbal, non verbal, and written communication, covering both interactive and non-interactive settings. Throughout the course we will will engage the ethical implications and considerations of the course material.
 

Accredited for 7.5 hours, including 1.0 hours of Ethics.

We're focused on learning, so wear what's comfortable. The room can get a little chilly in summer.
